The Cook County School District 130 Board of Education is composed of seven members who are elected by voters within the district's boundaries. Elections are held in odd-numbered years in the spring. Board members serve four-year terms.

 

Meeting Calendar

The Cook County School District 130 Board of Education meets at 6:30 p.m. on the third Thursday of every month. Meetings are held alternately either in Blue Island at Veterans Memorial Middle School or in Crestwood at the Eisenhower Cooperative.

Contacting the Board

The Board of Education welcomes communications from the community. Staff members, parents and community members should submit questions or communications for the Board of Education’s consideration to the Superintendent. The Superintendent shall provide the Board with a summary of these questions or communications and provide, as appropriate, his or her feedback regarding the matter. (Policy 2:140)

Board Member Training

All Illinois school board members must receive training in professional development leadership (P.A. 97-8) and the Open Meetings Act (P.A. 97-504). Mandatory training will also be required after the new teacher evaluation requirements are implemented in each school district. For additional information, see Board Policy 2:120, Board Member Development

The Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB) is a voluntary organization of local boards of education dedicated to strengthening the Illinois public schools through local citizen control. Although not a part of State government, IASB is organized by member school boards as a private not-for-profit corporation under authority granted by Article 23 of the School Code. The mission of the IASB is excellence in local school governance in support of quality public education.
